Sideline jukin' and footwork!!

By some cool ass kids!!

Every Friday of this summer, and previous summers, we've had what's known as BBall on the Block. It's a good ass program that brings kids from opposing neighborhoods, Little Village and Lawndale, together to play basketball on different blocks each week. The areas have created imaginary borders, separating Mexicans from Blacks, and almost all interaction that is had between the two is negative. Most of the streets in the two neighborhoods are ridden with gang activity. It's sad, but its reality. Anyway, at least there is programs as such working in the right direction to bridge the gap between races and youth in our city of Chicago. It's not hopeless.

The basketball games always end up being mad fun. Huge block party actions. It's a nice excuse to have cookouts, necessary food, dope music, art projects, dancing... ALL those kids can dance!

Watch this all the way to the end to get an idea:

youtube videos are such bad quality.
sorry,

Chic a go go go go.

Chicago is one of the best cities in the world and I will try and get that across as much as possible. No matter where I end up at in the next few years (cough, NY?) I know that I will always return home...always. It's a love/hate relationship.

Want something to do in the next few weeks?? Go love the Smiths and get cozy at what I consider truly one of the best bars in Chicago..

Moving on completely to the other end of the spectrum..want something to do on Friday? I've been looking forward to this for a minute because let's face it, I doubt there will be any wicker park weirdos trying to juke to that one song "arounnnnd the world, around the worlllllllld" here. Just sayin'!
