Happy Birthday, Nicolas!!

My brother's birthday is on Monday, but so what, I'll post this a few days earlier. I just purchased these Persol glasses for him, the tortoise on black (pictured below, second pair.) I'm the best sister, duh. (peep 'em here.)

Treated.

When I think of teenage girls, I think of:

1. Those shorts that have various words (School name, sport, "babygirl", "Flirt," etc) imprinted across the ass..

2. Johnny Depp. Isn't this the demographic that most of his fans fall into?

3. Claire's Boutique..accessories and ear piercing, duh.

4. Miley Cyrus. Don't quote me on this because I have no idea who this girl is or what she does. I just know teen girls LOVE her.

And now, I also think of this video.

TGIF...

I'm glad I started off my morning by checking out a picture of a 42 year old, over-the-hill and almost menopausal Stacey Dash from the movie "Clueless". Fat, tomboy, 13 year old Micaela was jealous of this bitch way back when. Fast forward about a decade. It's safe to say that nothing (including my jealousy) has changed.

Planet B-Boy

Today I took my students (who split their time between my art class and a breakdance class) on a field trip to the Landmark Century theater to see this Planet B-Boy film, which is a documentary that goes inside the international underground breakdance scene in Japan, France, South Korea, and the US as these crews prepare for the biggest event of their lives: The Battle of the Year in Germany.

Even if you aren't a breakdancer (like me) its definitely a film worth seeing and something that anyone can appreciate. It took a really interesting look into the lives of these dancers that all come from different backgrounds but have hip-hop in common and a ridiculous passion for b-boying as an art form.

Besides, it's only playing in about 20 theaters in all of the US and is only screening in Chicago til the 17th of April...
